The Intelligence and Information Solutions Business Unit (IISBU)currently has an opening for a IT Security Training Subject Matter Expert (SME). Responsible for tracking status of all personnel trained or those delinquent; compiling stats/numbers for reporting to FISMA and explaining why training goals have not been met if that is the case. This position may, during times of surge, be required to support the security engineers in conducting Certification & Accreditation activities.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Security Technology & Policy (STP) organization of US Customs & BOrder Protection (CBP) requires subject matter expertise support to the Office of Training and Development (OTD). The training material shall be in support of computer security awareness and security practices for all CBP employees and contract personnel involved with operation of computer systems. This support shall include assistance in the creation, evaluation and review of content for training materials. The position requires someone knowledgeable in IT Security policies and procedures, specific to DHS and CBP. Familiarity with Certification & Accreditation.. This position will interact frequently with the OTD as well as DHS OCIO for overall training needs development, maintenance, and assessment. It will include preparing training content, editing, summarizing all security training requirements. Candidate should be able to bring new ideas for creating awareness and identify better ways to promote security awareness and encourage all staff to take the training as required. May also include classified training materials and lower level specialized training for IT security professionals.
Scope: Implements and operates training programs, practices and procedures for training personnel. Designs and administers training programs to train all levels of personnel. May be responsible for the development, testing and maintenance of training curriculum to instruct customer personnel on the utilization of customer products or services. Responsible for creation of course content, training materials, and documentation that may include educational technology such as computer based training (CBT) or web based training (WBT). May be responsible for conducting individualized or classroom training sessions. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures to be used on new assignments. Establishes operational objectives and assignments. Works on complex problems. Regularly interacts with senior management on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS: Bachelor’s degree in related field and 7 years progressive experience in field. Advanced degree preferred.
DESIRED SKILLS: Top Secret clearance at a minimum. And must be able to obtain a CBP Full Field Background Investigation (FFBI).
